How to use this calculator
Enter monthly kWh from your meter or previous bill. Add the energy rate per kWh, then the fixed monthly service charge and applicable tax percentage. Keep the same currency for every amount.
The formula
Bill = (monthly kWh × rate + fixed charge) × (1 + tax% ÷ 100).
Worked example
At 300 kWh and a sample rate of 0.16, energy charges are 48.00. Add a fixed charge of 8.00 and 7% tax on both: tax is 3.92 and the estimated bill is 59.92.
Assumptions and limitations
One flat electricity rate is modeled. Tiered tariffs, time-of-use windows, minimum bills, demand charges, solar export credits and supplier-specific tax exemptions are excluded. Use a blended energy rate for an approximate comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find my local rate?
Look for the energy charge per kWh on your utility bill or the supplier’s current tariff page. Do not include the fixed monthly fee in that rate if you also enter it separately.
Why is my actual bill different?
Actual billing may include multiple price tiers, subsidies, fuel adjustments or taxes on different components. This calculator uses the simplified formula shown above.
Estimates only. Use your utility tariff and appliance energy label for more accurate inputs.
